On March 19, 2025, St. Joseph's School, Umden, joyfully celebrated the Feast of St. Joseph along with a special felicitation program for the newly elected MDC of Nongpoh Constituency, Smt. Rona Khymdeit, a distinguished past pupil of the school. The event was held in the Parish Hall and was attended by the school community, staff, students, and dignitaries.
The day commenced with a solemn Holy Mass at 9:00 AM, invoking God’s blessings and celebrating the patron saint, St. Joseph. The Mass was well-attended, with active participation from students, teachers, and parishioners.
Following the Mass, at 10:15 AM, the cultural program began, featuring a series of dances, songs, speeches, and the felicitation of Smt. Rona Khymdeit. Fr. Joachim Ekka SDB, the Principal of St. Joseph’s School, delivered a warm and inspiring welcome speech, acknowledging the significance of the occasion and the achievements of the Chief Guest.
Fr. Thomas also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the values of St. Joseph and the importance of leadership in serving the community. Smt. Rona Khymdeit, the newly elected MDC, delivered an inspiring speech, expressing her gratitude towards the school management for the honor and recognition. She fondly recalled her days as a student at St. Joseph’s School and appreciated the institution for playing a vital role in shaping her values and career.
As a token of appreciation, the school presented a memento and a special gift to Smt. Rona Khymdeit, recognizing her achievement and dedication to public service. Her strong Catholic faith and the support of her family, including her husband, a former Brother, were acknowledged as part of her journey to success. It was also noted that her residence is in close proximity to Umden Parish.
The celebration concluded with a delightful lunch at 1:00 PM, where students were also provided with snacks. The day was marked by joy, gratitude, and a deep sense of community, reinforcing the values of faith, leadership, and service that St. Joseph's School upholds.
