CAREER GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING- NONGSTOIN
A Career Guidance and Counselling Programme was held for the students of Class 12 Arts, Science, and Commerce of St. Peter’s Higher Secondary School, Pyndengrei, Nongstoin, on the 19th of September 2025 in the Vanni Hall. The programme was organized with the objective of helping students make informed decisions regarding their future studies and career pathways.
The resource person for the session was Dr. (H.C) Xavier Suhan Rasquinha, an International Affairs and Business Advisor. In his talk, Dr. Rasquinha highlighted the importance of career planning and introduced students to the RIASEC Test, which helps individuals discover their interests and aptitudes in six major areas—Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. He explained how each personality type is linked with specific career opportunities such as engineering, medicine, fine arts, law, education, business, and many others. His insights encouraged students to identify their strengths and align them with suitable professions.
The session also included Career Counselling by Mr. Bablu Medhi from the Jettwings Group of Institutes. Mr. Medhi emphasized the importance of skill-based education and shared information about various professional courses in fields such as aviation, hospitality, tourism, and management. His guidance opened new avenues for students interested in pursuing careers in service industries at both the national and international levels.
The programme proved to be very enriching as it motivated the students to reflect on their career choices and broaden their horizons. The interactive discussions helped them understand that career planning is not only about securing jobs but also about discovering one’s true passion and potential.
In conclusion, the Career Guidance and Counselling Programme was highly beneficial, and the students expressed their gratitude to the school management for organizing such an informative session that will surely help them in shaping their future.
