St. Peter’s Higher Secondary School, Pyndengrei, Nongstoiñ, had the great privilege of welcoming the Salesian Provincial of Shillong Province, Rev. Fr. John Zosiama, SDB, on the 27th of August 2025. His visitation brought immense joy and spiritual enrichment to the staff and students of the institution.
The day began with a solemn assembly in the school courtyard, attended by Rev. Fr. Marius Thongni, SDB, the Parish Priest, Rector, and Secretary of the School, Sr. Catherine Sutnga, the Principal,Rev. Fr. Carmel Myrthong, the Vice Principal, the teachers and the students. In his address to the students, Fr. Zosiama spoke with warmth and conviction on the Preventive System of Education of Don Bosco, built on the principles of reason, religion, and loving kindness. He encouraged the students to grow in discipline, responsibility, and respect, while nurturing a spirit of compassion and faith in their daily lives. His words served as a reminder of the Salesian tradition of holistic education that forms not only the mind but also the heart and character of the young.
Following the assembly, Fr. Zosiama held a separate meeting with the teachers. He shared valuable insights on Don Bosco’s vision of education and motivated the teaching staff to carry out their mission with dedication, patience, and love. Emphasizing the role of educators as companions and guides, he urged the teachers to foster an environment of trust, dialogue, and mutual respect.
The visitation concluded with a group photograph, capturing the memorable occasion with the Provincial, the management, teachers, and staff. The entire school community expressed deep gratitude to Fr. Zosiama for his inspiring visit, his fatherly presence, and his words of encouragement.
The day will be remembered as a significant and grace-filled moment in the life of St. Peter’s Higher Secondary School, as it continues to uphold the Salesian spirit in the field of education.
