LEGAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME AT PATHALIAGHAT
A Legal Awareness Programme was
successfully conducted at St. Xavier's Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat on
30th July 2025 at 1:00 PM in the school hall. The event was organized by the Sub-divisional
Legal Services Committee, Bishalgarh – Sepahijala, Tripura, with the aim of
educating students about legal rights and protections available to minors.
The session was graced by Ms.
Dipika Sarkar, who served as the resource person for the programme. She
addressed the students of Classes VIII to XII, focusing on the crucial topic of
“The POCSO Act” (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act). Her
insightful and detailed presentation helped students understand the importance
of the Act, its provisions, and how it aims to safeguard the rights and dignity
of children.
The programme commenced with a
warm welcome extended to the guest by Fr. Babu Stephen, who felicitated Ms.
Sarkar with a bouquet of flowers and a traditional Tripuri Risa, a symbol of
respect and cultural pride. In his welcome address, Fr. Babu expressed his
gratitude to the Sub-divisional Legal Services Committee for their initiative
in organizing such an impactful and relevant programme for the school.
The session proved to be highly
informative and interactive. Students actively engaged with the resource person
by raising numerous queries, all of which were addressed with clarity and
patience. Both students and teachers benefited immensely from the legal
knowledge imparted during the session.
In his concluding remarks, Fr. Babu Stephen extended heartfelt thanks to Ms. Dipika Sarkar for her valuable time and contribution, as well as to the students and teachers for their keen participation and enthusiasm. The programme was indeed a fruitful and enriching experience, leaving a lasting impact on the young minds regarding the significance of legal awareness and child protection.
