A Legal Awareness Programme focusing on Cyber Laws and Career Guidance was successfully organized by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), West Khasi Hills District, Nongstoin at St. John Bosco Higher Secondary School, Nongkroh-Rambrai on 23rd July 2025. The event was held in the school hall and was attended by students of Classes IX, XI, and XII.

The programme began with a warm welcome address delivered by Sr. Marylang Suchiang, the Headmistress of the school, who extended her heartfelt greetings to the distinguished resource persons. The invited dignitaries included:

  • Shri D. Pandey, IPS, Additional Superintendent of Police, WKHD

  • Smt. D.M.K.S Shadap, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, DLSA, Nongstoin

  • Ms. E. Marthong, ALADC

Shri D. Pandey, IPS conducted a compelling session on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, emphasizing students' safety, legal rights, and the importance of informed decision-making. He also shared valuable insights and practical tips on career guidance, inspiring students to work towards their goals with determination.

Smt. D.M.K.S Shadap focused her session on the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, highlighting the rights and responsibilities of minors under the law and stressing the importance of legal awareness among youth.

Ms. E. Marthong sensitized the students on the pressing issue of cybercrime, educating them on the types of online threats, safety measures, and the legal recourses available in case of cyber offenses.

The programme also included an interactive session where students eagerly engaged with the resource persons, asking questions and clarifying their doubts. This interaction greatly enhanced their understanding and awareness of legal rights and responsibilities.

The school community expressed its sincere gratitude to all the speakers for their time, knowledge, and commitment to empowering young minds. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Ms. E. Marthong, appreciating the school's initiative and the active participation of the students.

Overall, the programme proved to be educational, enlightening, and empowering, leaving a lasting impact on the students of St. John Bosco Higher Secondary School.
